A Scene at a village well | English grammar

We live in a small village. there are only about two hundred houses in it. There is a large pond outside the village. there are three wells on the bank of the pond. The whole village draws water from the three walls. We have no water-supply scheme for our village.

All the wells are very busy in the morning and in the afternoon. a large number of women and girls come to them with pitchers, pots, and buckets. at that time they are in their best clothes. they all draw water by turns and go home. While coming to, and going from, the wells some women sing songs. Some crack jokes and teases one another. Sometimes there are quarrels too.

a village well is a meeting place for the women. it is here that they talk and laugh heartily.
